The Dangerous Waters crew were released from Russia when both the paperwork and the weather cleared up. They re-crossed the Bering Strait and are now safely back in Nome where they will re-assess their situation and consider a different route for their next adventure.

The crew report that there was some miscommunication with the paperwork and permissions for landing in Russia. They were met on their landing by a tank and are still being detained by the Russian military and formally prosecuted, fingerprints and all. They have been given permission to send text messages and video updates home. They have even been granted permission to perform repairs on the seadoos, under armed guard of course.

They are all healthy, fed, and now that the trip has been cut short they just want to come home.

Update from the crew – The weather calmed enough for the crew to depart Wales, Alaska and cross the Bering Strait to land in Russia.  They are currently detained in a gym and both they and the seadoos have armed guards. They have limited use of the phones and communications devices and will update later.

Woke up in Wales, Alaska to foul weather this morning. Winds at 30 knots and 20 ft seas. We have to postpone our attempt to cross the Bering Strait until the weather improves.

We lost one of our GPS devices at sea, unfortunately it was the one that allows us to send messages from remote locations. We will still be providing updates, but are limited in how often we can do so. The other tracking GPS units are all still intact so you can follow our progress.

Filming is under way for Dangerous Waters season 2. The crew is under way headed up north to Alaska for another exciting adventure. Watch for updates!
